What people say

You and your improv methods have an amazing ability to pull diverse groups and people together while allowing them to have fun and think outside of themselves.

Mark Baker - Industrial Psychologist

The practical exercises and the interaction created between group members during the sessions made it an interesting team building experience. I would recommend it to any team/organisation that needs to uplift their team culture.

Heinrich Minnaar British American Tobacco HR teame

The presentation was dynamic, practical and interactive. Burgert and Francois applied the technique of roleplay brilliantly and managed to make congress attendees think about their daily walk and talk. Their performance is energetic and definitely reacher their audience. They move horisons!

Changing the Stellenbosch community for ever with story

    2010soccer

South Africa is preparing for the biggest event ever and the Greater Stellenbosch will be part of this festive occasion as a base camp during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

Playing Mantis has joined a partnership with the Stellenbosch Municipality and SASCOL (South African Sports Coalition) to host a 5 weeks holiday programme during June/July 2010.

The holiday programme is called “Keep them SAFE” and will focus on children, teenagers and youth. The programme focuses on four areas namely Sports, Performing Arts, Entrepeneurship and Community Wellness.

Each of these focuses are holistically developed in such a way that the participants will grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, spiritually and environmentally.

Fourteen different communities within the Greater Stellenbosch area will be served. For each of these areas a community development team is trained and mobilised.

The sustainability of the programme have been ensured by identifying local service providers and initiatives and combining the local effort with volunteers and inputs from outside the town.

Each Community Development Team, or Pitch Team, has plan and develop their own holiday programme based on the resources and needs in their respective areas.

Playing Mantis has joined the Keep Them Safe initiative to

  • Facilitate the design of the entire project as a hero’s journey of growth and transformation for all involved. From the Call to Adventure to the Return Home we have designed a project with the elements of the Hero’s Journey in mind so that change and transformation is lasting and sustainable.

  • Co-ordinate the design of every workshop that will be presented to young people between 12 and 18 so that it too follows the pattern of the hero’s journey. In every workshop be it sport, entrepreneurship, arts and crafts or performing arts, every participant will come closer to being the main character of his/her life story.

  • Train the community development teams in transformational leadership skills. At the heart of this training course is the role of the mentor in the story. As leaders how do we play our roles that the kids in the programme grow and develop into adults with both moral and performance character so that they can be good and do good.

  • Get involved

So far 185 adults have been involved in planning to serve 15 000 kids and youth.
